Being Delulu Is a Strategy, Actually, and Here's the Case For It

manifesting a text back is not science, but have you considered that it's fun

The internet has decided that being delusional, affectionately shortened to delulu, is no longer a flaw but a lifestyle. Applying for the job you are wildly underqualified for? Delulu. Assuming the barista's standard politeness means something more? Delulu. Deciding this is your year based on no evidence whatsoever? Extremely delulu, and the comments section will cheer you on. The question worth asking: is everyone okay? And the surprising answer: kind of, yes.

Strip away the meme and delulu is mostly just optimism wearing a funnier outfit. Where past generations had vision boards and motivational posters, this one has a word that lets you announce big hopes while pre-laughing at yourself. Saying 'I manifested it' is a joke and a wish at the same time. The self-awareness is built in, which is what separates delulu from actual delusion. Delulu knows. That is the whole charm.

Observe the practical applications: 1. Job hunting: applying anyway, because the worst outcome is a no you already had. 2. Dating: assuming you are a catch until firmly proven otherwise, which reads as confidence. 3. Creative projects: starting the thing before you feel ready, since ready was never coming. 4. Mondays: declaring a fresh era on arbitrary dates, which works weirdly often. In each case, the delusion does the heavy lifting that self-doubt refused to do.

There is real machinery under the bit. Most people's inner narrator is a pessimist with tenure, and delulu is a way of firing them for a week. Acting slightly more confident than the evidence supports is how a lot of genuinely confident people got that way. The feeling follows the behavior. The delulu crowd figured out that you can skip the line by simply deciding the good thing might happen, then behaving accordingly.

Naturally, there are limits, and the internet knows them even while joking. Delulu does not pay rent, read minds, or turn an unavailable person into an available one, and using it to ignore a real red flag is just the old kind of delusion with better branding. The rule of thumb: delulu should change your behavior, not your facts. Apply for the job, sure. But if he said he does not want a relationship, the delusion has left the fun zone.

So go forth and be precisely the right amount of delulu. Assume the room will like you. Assume the audition is winnable. Assume your era is, in fact, beginning. Half of confidence has always been unearned, even among the impressive people, and at least this generation is honest and funny about it. The solulu, as they say, was inside you all along. That sentence is ridiculous. It is also, annoyingly, true.
